In the last few months we have concentrated our efforts in developing a new tool for predictive analytics. While the tool is still under active development, we are already applying it to challenging scientific tasks and the first publication sprouting from this activity has just been submitted! Stay tuned for further news.
A recent publication on BMC Bioinformatics employs BioSignature Discoverer for identifying biomarkers characterizing leaf senescence in sunflower plants. The biomarkers allow a net separation across the senescence stages of the plants, and were identified by integratively analyzing transcriptomics and metabolomics information. The original publication is now available at BMC Bioinformatics website: http://bmcbioinformatics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12859-016-1045-2 BioSignature Discoverer page:[…]
Gnosis personnel will participate to the KDD2016, the prestigious ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovering and Data Mining. KDD is the event of reference for applied data mining, particularly business and industrial applications. Prof. Tsamardinos and PhD candidate Giorgos Borboudakis will present ETIO, a novel method for identifying causal relationships by integrating heterogeneous data. The[…]

A new publication using BioSignature Discoverer has been accepted on BMC Bioinformatics: “Network and biosignature analysis for the integration of transcriptomic and metabolomic data to characterize leaf senescence process in sunflower” BioSignature Discoverer helped researchers in identifying biomarker signatures characterizing the senescence process in sunflower plants. The signatures have been produced through the integration of[…]
The Cancer-Biomarkers in HUNT is an international consortium of five universities in five countries that collaborate to improve the survival of lung cancer and mesothelioma through innovative early biomarker discovery. The aim of the project is to develop a blood test for screening and cure these cancers. In the context of this project, Gnosis DA will[…]
Finding the genes whose expression helps predicting the quality of wheat harvest, or identifying the methylation signature that characterizes poor prognosis in autoimmune diseases. BioSignature Discoverer is the CLC bio plugin that helps researchers in accomplishing these tasks and many others in a statistically robust, computationally efficient, and user-friendly way. Find out more: BioSignature Discoverer[…]
Founded in 2013, Gnosis Data Analysis (Gnosis DA) is a University of Crete spin-off located in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.
Our mission: empowering companies and research institutions with powerful data analysis solutions and services.
Our personnel has a long experience in advanced statistics and machine learning, particularly in Predictive Analytics and Causal Analysis.
Predictive analytics: trends hidden in the data can predict the future evolution of markets, sale or more. Mathematical modelling and machine learning unveils these trends and enable prediction.
Causal Analysis: predicting what will happen is often not enough; sometimes the goal is to control future events. Discovering causal relationships in your data through causal analysis enables targeted interventions.
Products & Services
BioSignature Discoverer (BioSD) is a software plugin for the CLCbio bioinformatics platform. BioSD allows to discover the minimal sets of molecular quantities that are maximally predictive for a given outcome in high-throughput, omics data.
Find which genes are associated with Alzheimer, which metabolites predict crop quality, or which methylation patterns predict cancer survival: reliably, quickly, easily.
Gnosis DA offers a complete spectrum of data-analysis services, providing support in all phases of a scientific or business analytics study
"To call in the statistician after the experiment is done may be no more than asking him to perform a post-mortem examination: he may be able to say what the experiment died of."
—R.A. Fisher, 1938
Realizing a scientific study requires to careful plan the experiments to perform, including selecting the most appropriate sampling-methodology, an accurate estimation of the needed sample size, and the identification of the statistical methods that are more suitable for confirming / rejecting the hypotheses of the study.
Gnosis DA assists researchers in all phases of their scientific work: experimental design, data-collection quality control, interpretation, visualization and analysis of the final results.
Business Intelligence can tell you "what is going on", reporting metrics and statistics on various aspects of your business performance. Business Analytics takes a step further, by turning these data in information and insight for better supporting decision-making.
Contact Gnosis DA for a consultancy regarding how Business Analytics can boost your activity.
The HUNT project
The Cancer-Biomarkers in HUNT is a discovery study aiming to identify molecular signatures for early detection of lung cancer.
Resulting signatures will be incorporated in easy-to-use clinical tests for early diagnosis of lung cancer (while the disease is still asymptomatic).
The effort is led by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), with the participation of an international consortium.
Gnosis DA contributes to the project with experience in data-analysis and biostatistics, performing the analysis necessary for the identification of the predictive biomarker signatures.
